Fury bumped up to 3rd in WBC rankings as Wilder fight edges closer

The World Boxing Council must have been impressed with Fury’s recent instagram posts, as the lineal champion has done little of note in the ring since returning this year.

Last month’s one-sided drubbing of Francesco Pianeta seems to have been enough to lift Fury in their official rankings, with reports of a fight against champion Deontay Wilder close to completion.

Fury moves above Tony Bellew and Dominic Breazeale in the listings.

It’s not the first time a sanctioning body has unfairly overrated a contender, and in this case we’re somewhat happy to let it slide if it means the fight with Wilder actually happens this year.
