Posters Predict: Joshua vs Dubois

Few heavyweight match-ups feel as perfectly matched as Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. Joshua’s accomplished career has seen a resurgence with stoppage wins over crafty southpaw Otto Wallin and MMA star Francis Ngannou, while Dubois’ stock has also risen with a dramatic knockout upset over Filip Hrgović. It’s an all-British match-up of youth vs. experience, and most predict a high-action tempo. We asked our posters to give us their take on how the fight will look:

Stone rose

Cagey first couple with AJ double cautious . Dubois hurting AJ, possibly dropping him 3-4. AJ recovers and starts timing Dubois from the 5th , stopping him around the 7th .

Sledgehammer

I love Dubois, he has been completely disrespected over the years. He has heart now, he will KO Joshua in 6 after a hard fight. Whoever gets the first knockdown wins.

Dubois shows a steel chin after he walks through bomb after bomb. Joshua batters him for 6 then starts to gas. DDD with the late stoppage.

Joshua Will get the job done in the 9th or 10th I suspect, I like DDD, and they’ve been working on his defence, but he’s proven a good few times now that he is reasonably easy to hit. You don’t want to b easy to hit against Joshua, that’s not a good place to me.

So in my eyes I can’t really see a way this doesn’t end in an AJ KO.

Joshua peppers him. Dubois feels every shot. Shades of Mayweather vs Gatti. Accumulative stoppage after total domination.

Chatty

Joshua times Dubois, who hasn’t learnt to defend properly and attempts to walk through Joshua like he did Hrgovic. For his troubles he gets stopped in the second round.

Joshua starts slow and downloads data for the first few rounds. (He doesn’t, he just starts slow and builds into the fight). He will start landing a few good shots in rounds 3 and 4 with Daniel unable to return anything of significance. As AJ’s confidence grows and he realises he is a level above Dubois he will start to close out the fight and end up finishing him around 7 or 8.

Eddie Warren

Joshua starts well timing Dubois and having the better of him during the first three rounds. Dubios calms down from his opening frenetic pace and starts to warm into the fight. Dubois breaks Joshua down to win by TKO in eight rounds.
huntingground

AJ starts strong, dominates and stops DDD within 4-6. DDD too easy to hit at the top level.

Bratwurzt

Joshua fights over cautious like against Ruiz Jr, scared of getting hit. Dubois gets over confident and walks onto a big shot. Rather like the Helenius fight actually.

Trippy

DDD shows why AJ hasn’t fought a high pressure puncher in nearly 5 years. Dubois reminds everyone that AJ’s punches are no where near as effective on the back foot or in a tear up, when he doesn’t have the time and range to set them up. Dubois with the body and head combos he showed in his last fight, has AJ all at sea, and mentally unravelling in a style of fight he’s well out of practice for. DDD wins by stoppage within 5.

Joshua will fight scared like he did against Ruiz in the rematch, jabbing long, all the while back pedaling and moving laterally.

When Joshua is confident he has slowed Dubois sufficiently he may start to engage more and the fight might become a bit more interesting.

If Joshua is serious about having a future in the division he must win this and that added pressure will weigh heavily on him.

Dubois may have his moments but a conservative Joshua to win it as ugly as he needs to.
