Brook: “Why should Amir get the Pacquiao fight over me?”

It feels like forever that Kell Brook has been trying to chase domestic rival Amir Khan to a British mega fight.

We can’t help get the feeling that Brook may end up getting left out in the cold here.  He’s been looking like the Junior Witter to Khan’s Ricky Hatton for years now and time seems to be running out on the potential blockbuster.

The Sheffield welterweight was ringside for Khan’s latest performance, and reiterated his desire to make it happen immediately after.

Brook told IFL TV, “I’m only after that fight or Pacquiao.  There’s no way he’s having that [Khan v Pacquiao] over me, I’ve been with Matchroom the longest.  Why should Amir get the fight?  If he doesn’t want to take it, I’ll fight Pacquiao.”

Unfortunately for Brook, his could-be opponent still seems to hold all the cards.  Khan himself may have different ideas and has distanced himself from a meeting with Brook.

In an ideal world, the pair would clash late this year, with the winner going on to challenge Pacquiao next spring.
