Khan breaks British TV record

Eddie Hearn has revealed that last night’s Sky Sports show scored record high viewing figures.

The promoter congratulated Amir Khan and opponent Samuel Vargas for a great fight, before announcing that the action was watched by the biggest live UK audience on subscription TV in boxing history.  Not bad.

We assume a large portion of which stayed tuned to Sky Sports Main Event following England’s Nations Cup loss to Spain, but it’s still an impressive stat and shows interest in Khan remains high.

The card was Sky’s season opener for the new boxing year and hopefully signals another boost in mainstream attention for our sport.
