There have been a few murmurs about this recently, with trainer Robert Garcia confirming that Brandon Rios is in line to appear on the September 22nd pay-per-view event.
Garcia told reporter Elie Seckbach of the interest, hinting that Rios’ potential opponent is someone in action this weekend. Now it seems to be all but announced that it is Sam Eggington who will face Rios at Wembley Stadium, London.
Light-middleweight Eggington features on Amir Khan’s undercard, in a scheduled 10 rounder against African Hassan Mwakinyo on Saturday and would enjoy a profile boost by battling against someone of Rios’ stature.
Although he’d be a lot more comfortable making weight than previously at welterweight, it’d be a significant step up in size for Rios.
Both are entertaining fighters to watch, so this is definitely an interesting addition to the bill.
