WBC light-welterweight champ Jose Ramirez held onto his title with a convincing 12 round outclassing of Antonio Orozco in Fresno, California.  Both were unbeaten heading into the clash, but it was Ramirez that proved he belongs at a higher level, dropping his opponent twice before winning a lop-sided decision on the scorecards.  Orozco was down in rounds 4 and 8, and all 3 judges scored the bout 119-107 in favour of Ramirez.

On the undercard at the Save Mart Center, unbeaten Russian Alexander Besputin stopped Alan Sanchez in 9 rounds.  The welterweight prospect is now 11-0 with 9 of his wins coming via knockout.

Also on the bill, Japan’s Hiroki Okada edged a razor thin split decision against Cristian Coria.  Okada went down in the final round but still did just enough to win over the judges by the tightest of margins.
