We’re no closer to a definitive outcome in the ongoing saga between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin after their much anticipated rematch ended in another controversial decision.  This time we had an official winner, with Canelo earning a majority decision with the judges, but debate will rage on after a similarly encaptivating fight where most seemed to have Golovkin as their winner.

On the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ undercard in Vegas, Jaime Munguia impressed with a 3 round blitzing of overmatched Canadian Brandon Cook.  The WBO light-middleweight champion was the much bigger man, and bullied Cook before drawing the finish with some wicked body shots.

It took David Lemieux less than a round to dispatch of ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan, stopping the Irishman with a highlight-reel knockout.  The Canadian middleweight caught his victim with a great left hook just 25 seconds from the bell.

Roman Gonzalez got back to winning ways with a 5 round thrashing of Moises Fuentes.  ‘Chocolatito’ was in fine form, and ended the fight with a vicious right hand that flattened Fuentes.

Canelo Alvarez W MD 12 Gennady Golovkin
Jaime Munguia W TKO 3 Brandon Cook
David Lemieux W TKO 1 Gary O’Sullivan
Roman Gonzales W KO 5 Moises Fuentes
